training. Many of the skills developed during earlier work have been maintained
through informal study and self-assigned projects.
Recent - Experiences
- 1987 - 1991
- Designed and developed a Human Resources Information System (applicant
tracking, etc.) for Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute's Human Resources Office
as their Manager of Information Systems (MIS):

Coordinated efforts to expand the Department's PC:staff ratio from 1:7 to 1.5:1
- including approximately 15 PC's, 2 laptops, three print servers, and a UNIX
file server;
- Acted as inter-department IS liaison;
- Performed Departmental IS budget analysis and wrote various reports using
SQL and related tools;
- Participated in efforts to redesign data processing and customer service
- changing related policies and procedures;
- Became proficient in the use of dBase and Q&E-SQL development tools;

Coordinated batch transaction transfers to legacy systems;

- Designed and developed a genealogical database management system to aid
in my family history research.
Past - Education and Experiences
- 1979
- Completed a course in IBM mainframe assembly language programming during
a high school summer program at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
- 1983 - 1985
- Provided technical information and customer-services related to a wide
variety of computer systems (e.g. PC/MACs, UNIX workstations, IBM mainframe)
for Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute's faculty and students, as a student
consultant for Information Technology Services.
- 1984 - 1985
- Designed and developed business software and games for Mirror Images Software,
Inc.
- 1985 - 1986
- Designed and developed business software for Scanning Capital Assets
Network, Inc.
- 1986 - 1988
- Established ConsulNet, Inc., with three partners, as a business and information
systems consulting firm; obtained software development contracts with State
and local agencies, regional colleges and universities, and regional small
businesses.
