on-the-job training. Many of the skills developed during earlier work have
been maintained through informal study and self-assigned projects. References

Past - Education and Experiences
- 1980 - 1984
- Learned design layout, drafting, documentation and public presentation
skills while earning a Building Sciences Degree at Rensselaer Polytechnic
Institute's School of Architecture; took courses in drawing & oil painting;
wrote several architectural research papers; developed promotional material
for several student organizations - the material included 8.5" x 11" photocopied
flyers and 11" x 17" four-process posters.
- 1983 - 1985
- Learned technical writing and public speaking skills while working for
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute's Information Technology Services department;
wrote several "quick study guides" for novice computer users; prepared and
presented educational material in campus computer classrooms.
- 1984 - 1986
- Learned critical and analytical writing skills while earning a Bachelor
of Science Degree at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute's School of Philosophy.
- 1985 - 1986
- Designed and developed marketing literature for Scanning Capital Assets
Network, Inc.; designed and developed software systems and corresponding
documentation for the company and its clients.
- 1986 - 1987
- Refined critical and analytical writing skills while earning a Master
of Science Degree at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute's School of Philosophy.
- 1986 - 1988
- Designed and developed marketing literature and corporate image materials
as co-founder of ConsulNet, Inc., a business and information systems consulting
firm; designed and developed software systems and corresponding documentation
for clients.
- 1987 - 1991
- Designed and developed information systems and corresponding documentation
for Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute's Human Resources Office as their Manager
of Information Systems (MIS); supervised a Language Literature and Communications
graduate student intern; authored IS position papers used to make budget and
strategic planning decisions; designed, edited and co-wrote the Institute's
8 to 12 page Human Resources Newsletter.
- 1988 - 1993
- Designed and developed the menu and promotional material for the Last Exit
Cafe, a cooperative eatery/reading room once located in Troy; analyzed their
finances and business plans; designed and developed flyers for concerts and
benefits.
