Walking the City Beat

It is my opinion that many of the problems we see on our streets at night can be greatly diminished if we had law enforcement officials out walking the beat. Have you ever walked in an area that you typically drive thru and you immediately notice the details that you missed from riding in your car? What better way to get to know an area and the people who live there then to walk through it! A policeman on the beat could get to know our troubled areas and the people who live and work there. It wouldn't take long before the loitering & undesireable activity would subside. It's just to difficult to avoid a police officer who walks by, introduces himself and strikes up a conversation. I know that this method is being successfully implemented in other cities....why not try it here in Troy? We have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
