Troy Public Library News

At their annual meeting on June 9, 1997, the Board of Trustees of the Troy Public Library elected two new board members to replace out going members Frances Pitts and William Wallace. Elected for three year terms were Jaquetta Treece, who is currently Program Coordinator for the New York State Department of Social Services, Bureau of Supported Housing Development and Jane Spain Ducatt, a teacher of homebound students for the Troy City School District. Ms. Ducatt is also President of the Friends of the Troy Public Library Board of Directors.

The nominating committee also presented a slate of officers for the new year which were approved by the full Board of trustees. Officers include:

• President Trudy Hanmer
• Vice President Christine Salmon
• Treasurer Gerald Katzman
• Secretary M.Lynn Bradley

The Board of Trustees is the governing and policy making body of the Troy Public Library and consists of 18 people selected from the community for their interest in preserving and improving library service to the City of Troy. The Board meets on a regular basis on the second Monday of each month in the meeting room of the Main Library. Visitors are welcome. Call Paul Hicok 274-7071.
