Free Day Camp For Inner-City Kids by Bonnie Sklar Director of Public Relations Unity House Traveling Day Camp is a free summer program for low-income children ages 5-12 who ordinarily might not have the opportunity to attend a summer camp. For twenty-five years, Unity House has provided inner-city kids with a unique opportunity to experience summer as it should be: taking part in nature walks, trips to state parks, museums and lakes where they will swim, dance and sing while building memories and friendships. The structured activities provided by staff are also meant to help the children develop awareness of themselves, their community and the environment. For more information, or an application, please call or stop by Unity House/Street Ministry, 309 Eighth Street, Troy 272-2352. The Unity House Traveling Day Camp is primarily funded by individual donations. If you would like to make a difference in the lives of children living in the inner city, please send your contribution to: Unity House Summer Camp 401 Monroe Street, Troy, NY 12180. In cooperation with Troy United Ink Corp., a not-for-profit corporation |
