Troy Beautification Council Have you noticed a difference at the Menands Bridge? We hope you have. On one of the hottest days of the year a group of twenty people showed up to clean-up the sidewalk and surrounding brush. We had Frank Slingerland behind a saw clipper taking down overgrowth that hides the beautiful historic concrete fence. We had Jane Stewart with her trusty weed wacker clearing the sidewalks in one large sweep. Our faithful workers, Claire Davis and Christine O'Connell contributed their time to help improve this entry way. Other hard workers included Peg McCall, Nan and Tom Carroll, Clem Marino, Bonnie Burnsider, Allen Skeldon, Kathy and Vince Jimino, Mike Rourke, Peter Grimm, Justine Dalton, Ed Smith, Emily Dalton Smith and Peter Stewart. Earlier in the spring, Emma Willard students helped to remove growth and debris from this entryway. What is the Troy Beautification Council (TBC)? It's a group of citizens who think it is important to beautify our city with clean streets, entryways, alleyways, downtown walks, parks etc. Our mission statement is: To unite existing groups/people/government and businesses in coordinating efforts to beautify and clean up the city's public spaces; to provide support for additional media exposure, to educate & develop awareness with programs that focus on the esthetic value of the city; to provide liaison assistance and enable cooperation to blossom among all interested parties for the good of Troy; to act as an advisory group to the mayor and city administration and to provide an overall vision for the beautification of the public spaces in Troy. We'd love to hear form you. For further information or assistance contact: Janette Kaddo Marino 271-1276 In cooperation with Troy United Ink Corp., a not-for-profit corporation |
