Small And Home Based Businesses

The Troy Public Library will sponsor an Open House and Trade Show for those interested in small and home based businesses on Tuesday, June 2nd from 7pm to 9pm at the Main Library, 1 00 Second Street, in downtown Troy. There will be representatives from agencies in the business community to answer questions on starting and managing a small and/or home based business.

The library will also be unveiling its new collection of books and materials designed to support small business in the community. Additional workshops will be held throughout the month of June. This program and collection of materials was funded by a Federal Library Services and Technology Act grant administered by the New York State Education Department, Division for Library Development and Upper Hudson Library System. The Troy Public Library is one of six area libraries participating in this program. Call the library, at 274-7071 for additional information.

The Friends of the Troy Public Library are pleased to announce that Steve Guiliano of the Village Inn Restaurant in Wynantskill will be catering our Cafe in the Courtyard for this, our fourth year. Steve plans to open the Cafe in early June and continue through the summer months. Watch for our Cafe sign in front of the Library and join us for lunch! The Cafe will also be available for small parties accommodating thirty people or less. Please contact Tracy Thomas at the Library (274-7071) for additional details.

The Friends of the Troy Public Library will be participating in Troy's downtown yard sale on Saturday, June 6th beginning at 10 AM to 2 PM on our sidewalk on Second Street. We are finding interesting "miscellaneous odds and ends" as we clean out our basement and storage areas. We'll also sell Troy Haymakers baseball caps, Tiffany window notecards, Friends bookbags and sweatshirts, Historic Troy calendars, Cafe coffee mugs and of course books, book, books! Stop by for some great bargains!
