New Neighborhood Association Formed The Southern Lansingburgh Neighborhood Association was formed last fall to discuss ways to combat vandalism and drug use in the area and to reduce noise and fights occuring during late night/early morning parties at the Mt. Moriah Club, as well as to monitor safety issues at Knickerbacker Park and pool. The group is working in partnership with Sgt. Guido Gabriel and Officer Charles Batchelor of the community police. MayorPattison and Commissioner Whitman have met with the association on two occasions to help resolve the problems. Councilman William Pascarell and Council member Christine Stone have also met with the group. The association meets the first Sunday evening of every month at 7pm at the Capital Christian Church, corner of Fifth Avenue and 101st Street, and welcomes participation from neighborhood residents. Topics at future meetings will include speakers on the city codes, absentee landlords, TRIP, zoning, etc. Some members of the group have also volunteered for the Troy in Bloom project. The President is Bob LaChance. In cooperation with Troy United Ink Corp., a not-for-profit corporation |
