Friends of Chamber Music Susan Griswold Blandy - 274-2098 Here in Troy we are one of the oldest surviving chamber music series in the U.S. We are known for our enthusiastic audiences, and the musicians love our hospitality and Troy itself. Concert goers come from a 50 mile radius. If you enjoy adventurous programming performed by outstanding artists, the known and the new, in a unique ambiance. . . Friends of Chamber Music concerts are for you! Friends of Chamber Music, Inc., founded in 1949 by composer/educator Martha Beck Carragan has a long history of presenting brilliant artists and ensembles. Many world-class musicians have been introduced to area audiences early in their careers through Friends' concerts. This year we offer a wide range of music and internationally known musicians . . . from the 15th Century to jazz, from Mozart by Candlelight to a Sunday afternoon family concert, from counter-tenor to brass horn and silver flute. These are live concerts: no electronics or amplifiers, just you and the music up close. Concerts are held in Kiggins Hall on the beautiful campus of Emma Willard School in Troy. This appropriately intimate setting has superb acoustics for chamber music. And the resident Steinway piano is considered by many to be the best instrument in the area. We are an all-volunteer organization; your participation is welcomed. In cooperation with Troy United Ink Corp., a not-for-profit corporation |
