YWCA - Imagine Life Without Violence Pat Dinkelaker, Exec.Director - 274-7100 For the second consecutive year, the YWCA will participate in The Fourth Annual National YWCA Week Without Violence. Through activities focused on themes for each day, The Week Without Violence "brings to life our vision of a world where all people are free to live their lives and realize their dreams with safety, justice and dignity," said Patricia Dinkelaker, YWCA Executive Director. "We hope to attain practical and sustainable alternatives to violence which contribute to making people, families and communities safer." The YW invites all people to participate in the events planned in our local community. "The possibility of creating a week full of a vision of community built on the recognition of the dignity and worth of each individual is truly exciting." said Pat. The YWCA, the oldest women's membership movement in the U.S., has a long history of empowering women and families, fostering racial justice and preventing violence. Through 300-plus local member associations with programs in thousands of communities in all 50 states, the YWCA represents more than one million women, girls and their families. YWCAs provide a wide range of programs and services, including battered women's shelters and counseling, child care, support to victims of rape and sexual assault, job training, fitness and wellness, and legal advocacy.
