The Junior Museum - November Activities The Junior Museum will be sponsoring the following activities throughout the month of November, 1998. All activities will be held at 282 Fifth Avenue, Troy, New York, unless noted. Regular admission fee is $3 per person, children under two are free. Museum hours are Wednesday through Sunday, Noon - 5pm. Call (518) 235-2120 for information. Activities are appropriate for children of all ages. Please call ahead to confirm all activities. Super Science Spectacular November 7 & 8,1998 / 1 pm - 4pm Our youth ODYSSEY crew will be conduct and demonstrate various experiments throughout the museum exploring many facets of science. Join us for lots of fun and possible science fair ideas. Included with the regular price of admission. Family Fun Activity: Pottery Pinch Pot November 14 & 15,1998 / 1 pm - 4pm Almost every Indian tribe made pottery. Each Indian group made a different type of pot. Now you can create and decorate your own pinch pot using air-dry terra cotta clay. Included with the regular price of admission. Family Fun Activity: "Birch" Bark Basket November 21, 1998 / 10:30am - Noon People have been using baskets in North America for more than 8,000 years. Most Indian Tribes made some kind of basket, now you can make your own out of "birch" bark. Requires pre-registration three days in advance. Included with the regular price of admission. Workshop: "People of the Longhouse " November 21 & 22, 1998 / 1 pm - 4pm Explore the traditional culture of the Iroquois as you investigate their home in our hands-on 1600's Iroquois Gallery. Then, listen to stories reminiscent of the oral tradition with Iroquois pictograph slides in our Planetarium and learn some of their thoughts and beliefs about nature while encountering some of the local animals that are significant to Iroquois culture. $5 / Person includes admission to The Museum. Family Fun Activity: Dream Catchers November 28 & 29,1998 / 1 pm - 4pm These pretty homemade webs are adapted from the American Indian culture. According to Indian lore, if a child hangs a Dream Catcher over the bed, the web will "catch" the bad dreams and let the good dreams through. Do you know someone who could use a Dream Catcher?
