The author of a new book which features hundreds of old photographs of Troy during its industrial heyday of the last half of the 19th and the first quarter of the 20th century will talk about his passion for the preservation of this city's community history.

Near Death Experiences
Richard Bonenfant, research scientist for the New York State Dept of Health and adjunct professor in Computer Science at Siena College

Physical death is an event that each of us must eventually experience. Learn what those who have nearly died report about the phenomenon. Bonenfant will review the current status of scientific research about near death experiences and give special emphasis to the psychological, social, and psychic after effects of these experiences.

Chico Christopher, Rensselaer County Cooperative Extension Master Gardener

Be ready! Chico returns for another popular lunch-time presentation. He will talk about his three-season Garden Plan approach to gardening, which is useful for beginners and experts alike. He'll also discuss labor-saving and intensive techniques. Bring your questions and a bag lunch if you wish.

Maribeth Clemente, author of The Riches of France The New York Times described her book as part shopping guide, part travel guide, part cultural history and "a rich mix indeed for the Francophile." Ms. Clemente will present her well-received slide talk about the French Provinces and their distinctive products and culture.
