April at The Junior Museum

The Junior Museum will sponsor the following activities throughout the month of April 1999. Most activities are included in the regular cost of admission. Admission is $3 per person during the week, $4 per person on weekends, holidays, and during school breaks. Children under age of two and Museum members are admitted free. The Junior Museum located at 282 Fifth Ave, Troy, is open to the public Wednesday through Sunday, noon til 5pm.

April 3, 1999 - 1pm - 4pm On-Going
Family Fun Activity. Kool Art
What do you get when you mix creativity flavored drink powder and water? A kool art picture. Come to the museum and see what you can create. (Included with the regular price of admission.)

April 4, 1999 Museum Closed for Easter Holiday

April 5 - 11, 1999 / 10am - 2pm and 6pm - 1Opm
Space Week at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
Join us for the premier of our new Digistar II planetarium at the Houston Field House on RPI's campus, While you're there, you'll visit a whole space museum, including exhibits by NASA, RPI faculty and students, and corporations. Maybe you'll even get to meet some astronauts and cosmonauts who'll be visiting the museum! (Admission is free,)

April 10 and 11, 1999 / 1pm - 4pm - On-Going
Family Fun Activity: Glurch
Create a mixture that you can squeeze, roll, cut with scissors, or color with markers, When you're done, just put it away for another fun day. (Included with the regular price of admission.)

April 17 and 18, 1999 / 1pm - 4pm - On-Going
Family Fun Activity: Make-it-Yourself Chalk
Mix household secret ingredients to create your very own chalk that you can use to create a picture on the sidewalk. (Included with the regular price of admission.)

April 19, 20, 21, 22 & 23, 1999 / Noon - 5pm
Special Hours: Museum Open for Spring Break
Holiday Break Week admission $4 per person, children under 2 are free. The Junior Museum has something to do every day of your school vacation week.

Workshop: Music Lover
Explore how music is created, how it effects people through emotion, imagination and movement. Feel the music as you fashion your own musical instrument from everyday household items. (Grades 3-6) *Requires pre-registration by April 17, 1999 ($5/ Person includes admission to the Museum)

April 19, 1999 / 1 pm - 4pm - On-Going
Family Fun Activity: Music Maker
Feel the music as you fashion your own musical instrument from everyday household items. (Included with the regular price of admission.)

April 20, 1999 / 10:30am to Noon
Workshop: Water, Water Everywhere
This program will spend time examining many of the wonders of water by making it invisible, flow uphill, and float things. Study the water cycle - how we use it, why we try to control it, and how people and industry pollute it, (Grades K-4) *Requires pre-registration by April 18, 1999. ($5/ Person includes admission to the Museum)

April 2, 1999 / 1pm - 4pm - On-Going
Family Fun Activity: Water Wonders
Spend some time examining the wonders of water by making it invisible and getting it to flow uphill. Join us and float things in our portable touch tank. (Included with the regular price of admission,)

April 21, 1999 / 10:30am - Noon
Workshop: Artstanding! Drawing & Painting
You don't have to be an artist to participate in this workshop! Explore the basic components of art as you experiment with painting using everything except a paintbrush. You'll use your fingers, a sponge, string - even a toothbrush! (Grades K-4) *Requires pre-registration by April 19, 1999, ($5/ Person includes admission to the Museum)

April 21, 1999 / 1pm - 4pm - On-Going
Family Fun Activity: Explorations in Painting
Experiment with painting using everything except a paintbrush. You'll use your fingers, a sponge, string - even a toothbrush! (Included with the regular price of admission.)

April 22, 1999 / 10:30am - Noon
Workshop: Feathered Friends
Become a "bird brain!" Investigate the anatomy and behavior of birds, using The Museum's exhibits, artifacts, and live owl. Hands-on activities, stories, and games will enrich your child's learning experience. (Grades K-3) *Requires pre-registration by April 20, 1999. ($5/ Person includes admission to the Museum)

April 22, 1999 / 1PM - 4pm - On-Going
Family Fun Activities: Friendly Feeeders
Use some ordinary household items to create a friendly feeder for your backyard feathered friends. (Included with the regular price of admission,)

April 23, 1999 / 10:30am - Noon
Workshop: Animal Tales
Fiction and non-fiction stories are presented along with living examples of their main characters. After meeting the animal children can decide whether they think the story is true or not. (Grades K-2) *Requires pre-registration by April 21, 1999. ($5/ Person includes admission to the Museum)

April 23, 1999 / 1PM - 4pm - On-Going
Family Fun Activity: Paper Plate Animals
Fashion your favorite Junior Museum animal out of paper plates using our patterns and your creativity! (Included with the regular price of admission.)

April 24 and 25, 1999 /'I PM - 4pm On-Going
Super Science Spectacular: Density
If you've ever wondered about the principles of density, don't miss our Super Science Spectacular. (Included with the regular price of admission.)
