Troy Flag Day Parade & Festival Riverfront Park, downtown Troy on June 11, 12, 13 will be the site of the 32nd Annual Flag Day Parade and Festival which traditionally attracts in excess of 100,000 revelers. It is anticipated that forty thousand spectators will line the Fourth Street parade route on Sunday June 13th to view 5,000 marchers, 10 divisions including 20 major marching bands, floats, and a wide range of accompanying entertainment as they pay tribute to "Old Glory" in the largest Flag Day Celebration in the Nation. Troy Flag Day Parade Committee president Ed Verillo and vice-president Jerry Weaver jointly announced that this will be the largest parade and festival in their thirty-two year history. The celebration begins with an informal Block Party "dancing in the streets' on Front Street during the event set up. The excitement and activity of setting up the Festival is the background for this Friday night out with Al"Da Da" Bruno and Valerie DeLaCruz from 7:PM to midnight. The Festival is in full swing Saturday, June 12 from 11AM to 11PM and Sunday, June 13 from 11AM to 7PM. Boscov's Department Stores is a principal sponsor of the 1999 Celebration as they continue to be a leader supporting community events the Capital Region. The Parade kicks off at 1PM Sunday June 13 at Ida Street traveling along Fourth Street past the reviewing stands at Grand and Fourth to the finish at Federal Street. The Festival entertainment will headline Ernie Williams and the Wildcats, The Bluz House Rockers, Troy's own Al Bruno and Country Music Award winner, Valerie DeLaCruz with additional acts to announced. Spectators will enjoy a spectacular Fireworks display Saturday night overlooking the City's riverfront made possible by a grant from Boscovs. All vending including merchandise, food, crafts, etc are by special permit.
