Rensselaer Taconic Land Conservancy - June Outings The Conservancy outings program covers a wide variety of terrain and difficulty levels. We offer a mixture ranging from leisurely strolls to more strenuous hikes. Please choose outings based on your and your party's physical ability. We recommend that you dress appropriately for all weather and trail conditions, and wear long pants and hiking boots or sturdy walking shoes. You must also carry adequate water and food. Meet at Sand Lake Town Hall, Route 43, Sand Lake, Contact person: Warren Broderick (235-4041) We will take a leisurely 3 mile hike along trails and abandoned roads on the Rensselaer Plateau near Alps, with easy ascents and descents. The route will pass through oak-chestnut forest we will visit Rendert Pond and surrounding wetlands by land and water. We will picnic at a pond, and our program will focus on ecological community and plant identification. (Co-sponsor: Hudson-Mohawk Chapter, Sierra Club)

Meet at the Dyken Pond Environmental Education Center, Grafton. Contact person: Lisa Birr (658-2055) Representative of Headwaters Chapter, Trout Unlimited, Organization devoted to fisheries preservation, will demonstrate fly fishing and fly tying.
