Books by Mail

437-9880 ext 227

Books by Mail serves people who live far away from a public library or who cannot use a local library during the hours it is open. Homebound and people with disabilities will find this service a convenient way to borrow books for their at home enjoyment. Books by Mail is a cooperative project of the Upper Hudson Library System, Southern Adirondack Library System and the Mohawk Valley Library Association. Together we serve the residents of Albany, Fulton, Hamilton, Montgomery, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Schoharie, Warren and Washington Counties.

Books (large and regular print), audio books, and described videos may be ordered from our catalogs. We mail out reusable envelops with a postage paid label and order cards. No postage is necessary on packages stamped Free Matter For The Blind Or Handicapped.

Books are loaned for one month, books on tape and described videos are loaned for two weeks.

Books by Mail is available free of charge to users and is funded by a grant from Outreach Library Services from the New York State Education Department.
