TAP:Homes and South Troy Revitalization Campaign Sid Fleisher 272-1944
We are a group of residents and property owners, in South Troy who have become concerned about the condition of our neighborhoods. The increase in vacant buildings and the decrease in owner occupancy inspired us to begin work on an interesting project. Our basic challenge, as we see it, is to attract people to Troy as a place to live and pursue their creative energies in positive ways. Creative people have a need for and seek the joy of their own personal studio/workspace. And Troy offers a unique opportunity for artist and other explorers in terms of useful and inexpensive (need we say Cheap) buildings. Phase one of the project includes creation and distribution of a flyer. This flyer is a quick attempt to let people know that there is something in Troy to explore. Garrett Hamlin of TAP:Homes is working with potential homeowners to help them find buildings that meet their needs. We would like to saturate the area with our edict: There is a good life for artists and pioneers in Troy. There is something happening here - we are here and so are you. A next step for the project is to put together some documented successes, people who have gotten buildings and put in studio/workspace and comfortable living space. We are looking for photographs of these projects before and after. Our thought is to assemble a photo portfolio of some examples of rehabilitated or reused spaces, to help attract potential new property purchasers. If you have photos of your space and are interested give us a call. This letter is not a solicitation for money! We are looking for positive energy, comment, and maybe a commitment to help this community reach a critical mass. Things that you could do if you re moved to:
