A Definably Unique Program

"NYSTI's Theatre Arts School is different from other training programs. 'Unique' is an overused word, but three major differences make this program fit the definition," says the school's director, Sara Melita. "First, we hire theatre professionals who are experienced teachers as well as performing artists in their own right. Plus, we have a progressive curriculum content and objectives at are appropriate to a child's level of development from K rough 12, based on state and national standards. And third, we are dedicated to the growth of the "whole child" as both performer and person; that is why we keep class sizes small and intimate.

"Many of our students return year after year. The faculty and I evaluate and revise the program continuously to keep it fresh and exciting for the students. We also grow and change along with them. All of this makes our Theatre Arts School definably unique."
