Junior Museum - Sept. 1999
- September 4 and 5 - Noon - 1 pm Story Time; 1 - 4pm On-Going Craft Activity
- Story Time and Family Fun at The Junior Museum - Amazing Animal Tales featuring
Moostache by Margie Palatini
Come hear about a moose with a big problem! His mustache is so long, it causes disaster wherever
he goes. Find out how the poor animal solves his dilemma. Then, make your own moose puppet
with a "moostache" for reenacting the story at home. Give him a trim when it becomes a problem.
- September 6 - Labor Day - Museum open Noon - 5pm for Monday Holiday.
- Family Fun Activity - Moosey Mustache Puppets
While you're at the museum read the story. Moostache by Margie Palatini, as inspiration for our
craft activity. You'll be able to make a moose puppet with a "moostache" using a paper bag and
other materials to reenact the story at home.
- September 11, 999 - Noon - 1 pm
- Historic Happenings and Family Fun: Children of the Past -- School Days
In this first event about children of the past, join our costumed museum educator for an in-depth
look at children's school gear and back-to-school clothes from past decades. Artifacts from the
museum's collection will be presented, including school slates, an antique Schoolgirl doll. a 1950's
Fun with Dick and June reader, an 1851 Third Reader, and an 1848 Math Book. Make a horn book
to take home with you. ($5 per person, includes admission to the museum. Reservations requested.)

- Family Fun History Activity: Back-to-School Name tags
Watch the letters of your name become a back-to-school name tag.
- September 18 - Noon - 1 pm
- Amazing Art Workshop- Chinese Moon Festival
Come celebrate at The Junior Museum as we explore ancient Chinese culture. Learn about Chinese
mythology including those myths surrounding the moon. To celebrate the end of summer, make
your own Chinese lantern to hang in your house. ($5 per person, includes admission to the museum.
Reservations requested.)

- Family Fun Art Activity: Chinese Paper Lanterns
Create your own paper lantern modeled after ancient Chinese practices to enjoy at your own home.
- September 25 - Noon - 1 pm
- Super Science Workshop: Life at a Beaver Pond
Learn about one of nature's marvels -- the beaver. Using museum artifacts and exhibits, touch and
study beaver pelts, skulls, tails, and teeth, and find out what this tells you about these incredible
creatures. Explore the ecology of the pond where the beaver lives, including a took inside its
habitat, where you'll also meet other animals who share the pond ($5 per person, includes
admission to the museum. Reservations are requested.)
- September 25 and 26 - Noon - 5pm On-Going
- Super Science Spectacular: Be an Eager Beaver
Beavers build their dens with mud and sticks. You'll build a miniature beaver den from common
items.
