Unity House Annual Holiday Party Dec. 2 To Benefit People Living in Poverty Bonnie Sklar 274-2607 Unity House will hold its annual holiday party, Thursday, December 2, from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Franklin Plaza, Fulton & Fourth Streets, Troy. The holiday Party benefits Unity House's Street Ministry program, which serves people living in poverty. A this year's event, Unity House will honor Edward T. Gardner for his ongoing commitment to Unity House and the people they serve. Mr. Gardner, of Queensbury, N.Y., is a charter member of the organization's board of directors. Over the years, he has served as board president for a total of three terms. The evening will feature a buffet, cash bar, entertainment, and a final chance to purchase a raffle ticket for a wonderful New York City getaway weekend. Tickets to the benefit are $25.00 and may be purchased in advance or at the door. For more information, contact Bonnie Sklar at Unity House at 274-2607. Street Ministry provides crisis intervention, advocacy, counseling, emergency food, clothing and housewares, housing assistance, summer camp for inner-city children, holiday food baskets and gifts, and a multi-service neighborhood center. Unity House, founded in 1971, is a not-for-profit human service agency in Troy dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for people living in poverty, adults with mental illness, people living with HIV/AIDS, victims of domestic violence and children with developmental delays. Their programs provide direct services to people in Rensselaer County and surrounding communities. You may also support Unity House through the purchase of an Entertainment Book.
