Free Preview Open House, 10 a.m. January 8 Application Deadline January 15

A "Y2K Winter of Discovery" offers young people ages 3 - 18 a warmup to spring at the Theatre Arts School of the NYS Theatre Institute. The school continues its 21st season with a semester of "discovering the fun and freedom of performing." Interested participants and parents are invited to a Preview Open House at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 8, to experience a sample of Theatre Arts activities. Registration has already started for the semester, which meets on Saturdays, January 15 through April 8. Applications are being taken now, through January 15th.

Saturday Classes for Ages Pre-K through High School Levels

Classes for youngest students are held on Saturday mornings. Creative Dramatics, for ages 3 - 8, helps foster imagination through creative activities that place emphasis on self- expression. Theatre Skills Workshops, for ages 9 - 12, are 3-hour classes in acting technique, vocal expression, and creative movement.

Saturday afternoons, Performance Skills Workshops, for 13 - 18 year-olds, comprise an hour each in acting, singing, and dance from 1 to 4 p m. Theatre Arts School classes take place at the Schacht Fine Arts Center on the campus of Russell Sage College in Troy.
